As I recall this is the third time I've read this book...and I would happily read it again. One of the all-time greats. Even today Conrad's writing still clearly evokes the people and places of 'up-country' Indonesia and the 'Malay arhcipelago.' This is a must read for ANYONE.
This particular book had clearly seen some road miles long before I got my hands on it...and I hope it makes many more!
It was published in 1965 in US but had a bookmark inside from The Authors Wing of the Oriental Hotel, Bangkok. I picked it up in Kuta, Bali, and left it at Berlian Inn, my regular hangout there in November 2009.
